Group Abstract Painting

During the summer of 2010 I was employed at AhHaa School of the Arts in Telluride, CO. The photos above depict my students and the painting they completed during a private lesson I taught. The students came in wanting to paint rocks they had found in the river, I however was not creatively stimulated by painting rocks and decided to surprise them with an abstract group painting project. There are five individual pieces of paper laid out on the table and the students worked on the painting as if it was one long sheet. At the end of the session each student got to pick a painting to bring home. My intention was that each student would be able to look at their individual piece of paper and know that many hands went into making that one painting.

Welcome

Hello, my name is Katie Lewandowski and I have recently started my student teaching in Zimmerman, MN at Zimmermen Elementary School (K-2). In Novemeber I will begin my experience at the high school and middle school in Elk River, MN. I'm creating this blog to gather professional ideas and post them in hopes of inspiring other educators and artists alike to create and explore their creativity! Enjoy
